Let’s Take a Look at Millennial Dining

Millennials are the largest living generation in the United States. Millennials were born roughly around the early 1980s and late 1990s and they are popular in the topic of trends. This is something all businesses are currently interested in and that includes restaurants. What kind of impact do Millennials have on restaurants as a whole? They’re redefining what it means to “eat out” and as they continue to be a growing force in society, here are a few tips on how to appeal to the average wants of a millennial.
  1. Millennials Love Social Media
This generation grew up with the world at their fingertips, so naturally the best                              way to get their attention is to enter their world. Many restaurants utilize platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to advertise their business. The key is to stay up to date and consistently post engaging content to catch the reader’s attention. Pictures are worth a thousand words and what better way to present what a restaurant has to offer than by sharing photos of their menu items and specials. A diverse menu and memorable atmosphere are guaranteed to have millennials coming back for more.
     2. Millennials Stay Updated
Millennials are all about being in the know, now. Many Millennials make their judgment based off of online reviews which is why establishing an optimized listing on Yelp is essential. It’s important that a restaurant clearly list their contact info, website, and menu. It’s no secret that Millennials want what they want and fast. The more accessible information is, the more customers will respond to that information and show interest in the content.
      3. Millennials Want an Experience
Going out to eat is no longer just some leisurely pastime, at least not to Millennials. They see it at an event; so go ahead and exceed their expectations. The goal is to create an environment that welcomes socialization and experience rather than just another place to dine. How exactly does a restaurant capture an experience? Easy, be original, modern, and authentic. Incorporate interesting decor and ambiance and be sure stay true to the restaurant’s image.

It’s important for restaurants to incorporate the Millennial generation trends in their business model. This isn’t to say that traditional generations have no say in the matter. They’ll frequent restaurants the same as they always have but just as times change, so do people and trends and expectations.
