Let’s Take a Look at Millennial Dining

Millennials are the largest living generation in the United States. Millennials were born roughly around the early 1980s and late 1990s and they are popular in the topic of trends. This is something all businesses are currently interested in and that includes restaurants. What kind of impact do Millennials have on restaurants as a whole? They’re redefining what it means to “eat out” and as they continue to be a growing force in society, here are a few tips on how to appeal to the average wants of a millennial.
  1. Millennials Love Social Media
This generation grew up with the world at their fingertips, so naturally the best                              way to get their attention is to enter their world. Many restaurants utilize platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to advertise their business. The key is to stay up to date and consistently post engaging content to catch the reader’s attention. Pictures are worth a thousand words and what better way to present what a restaurant has to offer than by sharing photos of their menu items and specials. A diverse menu and memorable atmosphere are guaranteed to have millennials coming back for more.
     2. Millennials Stay Updated
Millennials are all about being in the know, now. Many Millennials make their judgment based off of online reviews which is why establishing an optimized listing on Yelp is essential. It’s important that a restaurant clearly list their contact info, website, and menu. It’s no secret that Millennials want what they want and fast. The more accessible information is, the more customers will respond to that information and show interest in the content.
      3. Millennials Want an Experience
Going out to eat is no longer just some leisurely pastime, at least not to Millennials. They see it at an event; so go ahead and exceed their expectations. The goal is to create an environment that welcomes socialization and experience rather than just another place to dine. How exactly does a restaurant capture an experience? Easy, be original, modern, and authentic. Incorporate interesting decor and ambiance and be sure stay true to the restaurant’s image.

It’s important for restaurants to incorporate the Millennial generation trends in their business model. This isn’t to say that traditional generations have no say in the matter. They’ll frequent restaurants the same as they always have but just as times change, so do people and trends and expectations.

The Benefits of Local Restaurants

With their personable experiences and lively atmospheres, local restaurants may be the perfect place to find a new New Year’s tradition. The first thing that makes local restaurants great is that the owners have creative control over how the place is run. If owners have a solid vision for their restaurant, they have the key to creating a memorable experience for their customers. They can accomplish this through things like appealing menus with local specials and more accomodating services. When owners of local restaurants are personally invested in their business, it’s amazing how the hard work they’ve put in can be seen throughout. This hard work and effort reflect good service and a welcoming atmosphere more effectively than chain restaurants. The other creative aspect that gets put into a local restaurant is the bran...

Turkey Day

The stores may already be decorated for Christmas and some radio stations may already be playing the same 50 Christmas songs, but Thanksgiving is still around the corner. Thanksgiving is the holiday where families come together and celebrate all they are thankful for. Declared as an official holiday by Abraham Lincoln in 1864, Thanksgiving is one of the few holidays with roots to this country’s history. Along with the history, and the gratitude of this holiday, the turkey is an essential part of Thanksgiving. Ben Franklin favored the turkey over the bald eagle but since it didn’t end up being America’s national bird, how did it become the seasonal bird on our dinner plates? Turkeys probably weren’t the main course of the first Thanksgiving meal that took place between the pilgrims and indians in 1621. According to accounts from William Bradford, the governor of Plymouth, Massachusetts, it stated in his journals that fowl, deer, or fish were served instead of turkey. But turkeys ...
